Healthy Spot Pet Nutrition & Supply Inc. has been chosen as the recipient of the 2009 Sustainability Award in Sustainable Business as part of the 2009 City of Vernon Sustainability Awards program.

This is the first year that the City of Vernon is recognizing the contributions of individuals, groups and businesses in Vernon who contribute to the development of a culture of sustainability in Vernon.

The City's Sustainability Awards Program consists of Sustainability Awards and Seed Awards. Sustainability Awards recognize the outstanding achievements which contribute to the enhancement of economic, social and ecological sustainability in our city. Seed Awards acknowledge significant achievements which may not support all three aspects of sustainability but contribute to the improvement of at least two aspects of community sustainability.

Sustainable Business: This category identifies businesses located in Vernon whose activities have promoted sustainability in the workplace or in the community. Nominated businesses should demonstrate excellence in raising awareness of sustainability issues with staff or clients, reducing the business's ecological footprint and/or notably enhancing or promoting sustainability throughout Vernon.

The awards will be presented to the winners during the EnviroFair, to be held on May 30, 2009, beginning at 2:30 pm at the Vernon Recreation Centre.
